Consumer and Textile Sciences Dept. Tips for Efficient Web Browsing

Browsing the web can be frustrating. The following tips will be expanded in the future:

(1) If things are slow, turn off graphic loading in your browser -- most graphics are not needed.
(2) Try in the morning -- may be faster then.
(3) Click STOP after a minute -- it is possible that most of the important text and links will have been loaded by then.
(4) Watch for indications of "Helper Applications." The most common example is Adobe Acrobat. This is useful for printing out documents that will look like the original printed material, but it is not a good format for a true web experience.
In any case, you will need to download a free copy of the Acrobat reader:
