Sharon DeVaney, Ph.D., 1993 Sharon DeVaney won the Outstanding Paper, Agricultural Sciences Division, at the 1993 Graduate Research Forum, The Ohio State University. She was co-winner of the 1993 student paper competition of the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education. Sharon also won the Student Paper Award, Eastern Family Economics Home Management Association in 1993. Her dissertation received the Ohio Home Economics Association best dissertation award.

Sharon DeVaney is a full professor at Purdue University. She won the Best Paper Award at the 1994 AFCPE conference; the 1994 International Board of Certified Financial Planners Best Paper Award; and at the 1995 AFCPE conference she won the award for the best article to appear in the journal Financial Counseling and Planning. In 1996, she received the New Leader Award of the Ohio State University College of Human Ecology Alumni Society.

In 1998, she won awards from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards for two different articles:

"Factors Predicting the Most Important Source of Retirement Income" (with Ya-Ping Sun) published in Compensation and Working Conditions, volume 2, n. 3, Fall 1997.
and

"Retirement Savings of Nonfarm Self-Employed Workers: An Exploratory Study (with Ya-Ping Su, Constance Kratzer, and Deana Sharpe) in Consumer Interests Annual, Volume 43, 1997.
