Welcome!

Earn up to 6 CEUs by participating in the online course Food Safety for High Risk Populations, developed by food safety education researchers from three universities - The Ohio State University, Washington State University, and Colorado State University.

The course is designed to educate professionals who work with high risk audiences about this increasingly important topic.

The course is presented in six (one hour) modules, including:

  • Food Safety Overview
  • Immunology and Foodborne Illness
  • Food Safety Issues During Pregnancy
  • Food Safety and HIV/AIDS
  • Food Safety and Cancer/Organ Transplant Patients
  • Food Safety During the Lifecycle

The modules consist of voice-accompanied slides with additional information for printing. Those who complete the post-module quizzes and score 70% or higher on each will receive a certificate of completion for up to 6 CEU credits from the professional organizations listed near the bottom of this page. A high speed Internet connection, such as DSL or cable, is recommended to participate in the course.

The cost of the course is $60.

Continuing Education Units have been approved for the American Dietetic Association, Ohio Nurses Association with reciprocity to other states, the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, the National Environmental Health Association, and the National Dietary Managers Association.  Individuals wishing to receive credit with NEHA must complete their submission online at www.neha.org/CEweb/CE.asp.  A certificate for modules completed can be printed for your records at the successful completion of each module.
